You should avoid the north of the bay, because there the wind is less and also the fishermen have their place there. The water goes in flat and you can stand far. However, everything is full of seaweed and algae. If this does not bother you will get a top shallow water to practice tricks. The offshore islands and the mainland create a jet effect in Porto Botte with a north-westerly wind, increasing the wind. So you can always add a few nodes to the wind forecast.</div>

If the wind lets you down just relax on the beach, or to get your heart going a bit you could rent some SUP’s, go for a bike ride or hike up Mount Altura which is nearby.</p><p>Another good option for a day off from kitesurfing is to take a boat trip to the nearby Maddalena national park, There are plenty of trips available and the boats leave from the port in Palau, so you can enjoy the stunning clear water and incredible beauty of the place, either from the boat or get in and go snorkelling.</p><h3>How to get to Porto Pollo and how to move there</h3><p>Olbia Airport (OLB) is the closest around 45 minutes away from Porto Pollo, or you can also fly in to Alghero (AHO) which is around 2 hours drive. The best bet for your stay is to hire a rental car and be able to explore the beautiful surroundings of Sardinia, but if you don’t want to get one then taxis are readily available and reasonably priced.</p>

<p>Porto Pollo offers a large sandy bay for kitesurfing which has pretty flat water, works in any wind direction and is perfect for anyone from total beginners up to pro kitesurfers. It’s nice and warm in the summer and due to the local geography there is generally enough wind to kitesurf the majority of days from April until October. Sardinia is a beautiful location which has a lot to explore even for non kitesurfers, which makes it a great family holiday destination not far from the rest of Europe. It’s not exactly party central at Porto Pollo but if you’re after some restaurants, bars and clubs the local town of Palau has enough to keep you entertained in the evening.</p>

<p>The Kite Spot Punta Trettu is certainly one of the best spots for kitesurfing in Sardinia. Its shallow, crystal clear waters, the shallow sandy bottom, the constant winds that blow in the bay all year round, and the large launch sites that are able to accommodate many kites in complete safety. All these factors make Punta Trettu an ideal place to learn the basics of kitesurfing and to practice more advanced freestyle tricks. Due to the particular configuration of the bay, Punta Trettu works with most of the wind directions of the Mediterranean: Mistral, Ponente, Sirocco, Levante and Libeccio. Due to the thermal effect, the winds of Mistral and Sirocco are always 5/10 knots stronger than indicated in the weather forecast!</p>
