The Kite Spot Theologos is on a narrow but long sandy and pebble beach close from the center of Rhodos. The beach falls off quite quickly. The cozy village of Theologos is a perfect starting point to experience the Greek flair and to enjoy excursions in Rhodes. On some days a nice wave on the sandbank and a moderate shorebreak build up in the shore area.

<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Kos Psalidi Beach</h3><p>The highest probability for wind is in July and August, but any time from May until October you can be lucky and get some kitesurfing done. Mostly it’s going to start a little lighter in the morning and pick up towards lunch, so a 70kg guy might start on a 15m kite in the morning and be on a 12m or 9m by lunch when the thermal wind kicks in. The beach is rocky here, so you’ll want to be a little careful walking in and out of the water, and beginners will generally want shoes or booties. The water is choppy, with some little waves when the wind picks up more, but it’s not what you’d call a wave spot. There is some flat water close to the beach and behind the point, but the wind can drop a bit there.&nbsp;</p><p>Beginners will be closer to the beach, where they can stand easily enough and there are a few&nbsp;kite schools on the spot that you can learn with. Anyone else kitesurfing will want to stay a little further out to avoid any tangles with the beginners.</p><h3>Around the kite spot Psalidi Beach</h3><p>Kos isn’t a huge island, so there’s a lot to see in a relatively small area, and as Greece is world renowned for its history you’d better believe there are some beautiful spots around. Asklepion is a huge healing institution from around 400 BC, which is one of the more touristy attractions in Kos and well worth visiting, and there are a huge number of other Greek and Roman sights nearby. If history isn’t your thing then there are plenty of stunning beaches with crystal blue water, and some great diving and snorkelling spots too. You can arrange kite gear storage for a fee at the kite schools but there’s not really much in the way of accommodation on the spot, so you’ll still have to get there somehow.</p>

It normally fills in later in the morning around 10am and picks up to average 18-25 knots in the afternoon. Kitesurfing, and other wind and water related sports can be found on the northern part of the beach.. The southern half, protected from the wind, has soft, fluffy sand and calm seas that are great for relaxing and more suitable for youngsters and families. Sun beds and umbrellas are available in high season, but supplies are limited, so it's best to bring your own. There are plenty of authentic Greek places to eat and drink nearby, so you can always enjoy some rest and recuperation with the local cuisine. Another option is to get on horseback and enjoy the beauty of the beaches and the rest of the island. The slightly longer winded route is to fly to Athens, Santorini or Mykonos and then get a ferry. It’ll take longer but if you have the time it can also be a really nice way to see more of the beautiful Aegean sea. Once you are there public transport is a cheap way to get around and is pretty well established, but a rental car will obviously give you more freedom, so it really depends on your budget.</p>

Around Marmari itself you can go horse riding or hit the race track for some go karting, and further afield you can experience the history and culture that the Greek islands are famous for. Not very cultural, but the kids might also enjoy the water park to get away from the windy beach for a day!</p><p>The Byzantine castle of Pyli (AKA Paleo Pili) is the spot to go see some ruins and the incredible views from the hills in the centre of Kos. Taxis are available but for ease having your own transport is recommended. There are loads of flights to and from Europe to Kos, with plenty of budget carriers offering options, just remember to check the cost of travelling with your kite gear in advance!</p>

<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Sigri</h3><p>May until October is when the Meltemi wind blows and is the main kitesurfing season, but due to the shape of the bay here you can kitesurf in almost any wind direction and any time of year. From May until October you can expect between 15-25 knots most days, with the wind picking up towards lunch time and blowing until sunset. This is due to it being a thermal wind, so the sun needs to be shining for a little bit before it picks up, and makes for lovely lazy mornings followed by epic kiteboarding afternoons. In the early or late season you’ll want a wetsuit, but June-August you should be fine in just shorts and tshirt.</p><p>The water is pretty flat all over, with the flattest sections being just near the launching spot and behind the islands around the bay. It offers steady wind and butter flat water behind the “sand” bank at low tide in both West and East wind directions, and you can kitesurf year round, although summer is the main season. It offers wind 250+ days per year but can be fickle and sometimes only a few hours kitesurfing at a time, so it’s best to consult the forecasts and get in touch with the local kite schools if you aren’t sure.&nbsp;</p><p>As it’s not far from Athens it can get crowded with other kitesurfers particularly at weekends in the season, and you’re pretty likely to run into European pro kitesurfers as it’s a nearby destination with consistent wind. Due to the wind direction, size and shape of the spot this is much more suited to intermediate and advanced riders who are comfortable riding in a rotation: i.e. come in, do your trick, ride out, repeat, so everyone gets a spot to practice. You can learn here with a local school if they offer boat rescue, but it’s not a particularly beginner friendly place.</p>

There are also a number of other places to kite on Lemnos so you can pick and choose depending on the day and your mood.&nbsp;</p><p>There are quite a few stunning beaches on Lemnos, with crystal clear water perfect for swimming, or if you fancy getting your heart rate up you can climb up to some of the various castle ruins scattered over the island.&nbsp;</p><h3>How to get to Aliki Beach and how to bring it about while you're there</h3><p>Lemnos international airport (LXS) is the one on the island itself, and from there it’s highly recommended to rent a car. You can get around with taxis and buses but really a car is going to make life much easier for you. If you can’t find a decent flight it’s also possible to fly to Athens and then take a ferry from there to Lemnos, it will just take a while longer as it’s one of the islands further from Athens.</p>

It’s got a shallow spot closer to shore perfect for beginners to learn kitesurfing, and then drops off deep pretty quickly making this a perfect place for practicing or learning hydrofoil kitesurfing. The island of Lemnos offers plenty in terms of beaches and beauty, and also has a lot of history (as do so many of the Greek islands!) so it makes for a good family kite holiday destination with a bit of everything to keep all members happy (if they aren’t already kitesurfing too!). The wind here normally only comes later in the day, so it’s a lazy kind of vibe in the mornings, great for when you just want to unwind and not stress yourself with catching the perfect wind.</p>

Aliki Beach - sometimes called Saltlake Bay - is just up north of Keros Beach. It has around 2-3 knots more wind. The Meltemi wind is coming onshore from north, so make sure you know how to ride upwind.
