<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Phan Rang</h3><p>Phan Rang has wind nearly all year but the main kitesurfing season is from October until April, with the peak being November to March. During this time you can generally expect an average of 20-25 knots, but it can get stronger up to 40 knots semi regularly, so this is definitely a good spot to pack your small kites. If you want to learn or kitesurf in the lagoon you’ll want to avoid the lowest of low tides, as it can get too shallow to be safe, but you can always walk out to the deeper water to kite any time of day regardless of tide. The best bet is to reach out to the local kitesurf schools before you go to check how the tides are. Outside the reef there are some small to medium waves breaking both left and right, and it can occasionally get big and challenging when the wind is strong.</p><p>From May until October there is a thermal wind which can work here, but isn’t as reliable and can be affected by storms, so again, it’s better to check with the local schools before organising your trip.</p><h3>Around the kite spot Phan Rang</h3><p>Vietnam is a very popular backpacking country so if you want to head out for a break from kitesurfing there are tons of options for adventures, we won’t list them all here!</p><p>Locally around the Phan Rang kite spot there are various temples and other beaches to check out, with a long coastline to explore and enjoy the natural beauty. The food in Vietnam is excellent and with plenty of options to keep you full and content, and so having your own scooter to get around might be a good option.</p><h3>How to reach Phan Rang and how to move there</h3><p>For international travelers, you need to book flights to Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR). From there, the journey to Phan Rang and My Hoa will take you around 1 hour and a half by car or taxi. You can book transfers through the local kite schools or organise your own. If you want it’s also fairly easy to get trains and buses in Vietnam (since it’s popular for backpacking), and the station name is Thap Cham. From there you’ll still need to take a half hour taxi to reach the kite spot, but there are plenty waiting outside the station. For moving yourself around having a car or scooter can be helpful but it’s not essential particularly if you organise your trip through the local kite schools.</p>

<p>Phan Rang has quickly become one of Vietnam’s most loved kitesurfing spots, with a shallow lagoon making it perfect for learning and practicing tricks, and also waves on the outside of the reef so a bit of everything for everyone! The wind in season is incredibly consistent, and Vietnam has a whole lot to offer other than kiteboarding so you won’t get bored in a hurry here. The actual kite lagoon is named My Hoa and is about 16km North of Phan Rang itself, and because it hasn’t yet gained the level of exposure as Mui Ne it’s still a relatively quiet kite spot. The locals are less likely to speak English than in the more touristy spots, but they are super welcoming and lovely, the location is stunning as well as being amazing for kitesurfing, and the food is incredible.</p>

Be careful with rocks at low tide. The wind can get very strong. Best arrange accommodation in advance and a scooter if you want to be able to move around easily.

<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Mui Ne</h3><p>The South West Summer Season and the North East Monsoon Season are the two main kitesurfing seasons in Mui Ne. During the summer season, running from May till October, the wind mainly blows from the South. It blows every day, but not as fiercely as in the winter. In the summer, the wind speeds range from 10 to 14 knots. It usually begins with a gentle breeze in the mornings, gradually picking up strength as the day passes, and becomes much stronger later in the day. Later in the afternoon, there is a decent and steady breeze, but it lasts only 3-4 hours. This season is more suited to beginners as the wind is a little less fierce. From January through March, the wind gets to its peak when it blows on average at 20-25 knots, with gusts as high as 40 knots. This suits advanced riders better as the shore break can be intimidating for beginners.</p><h3>Around the kite spot Mui Ne</h3><p>The famous red and white sand dunes are just nearby Mui Ne, and as long as there aren’t too many other tourists around it can be really striking and beautiful. You could also visit the local temples and check out the Po Shanu Cham towers nearby. Vietnam in general has a wonderful culinary scene, so why not take some lessons on a rest dat and learn how to make some authentic Vietnamese food, it’s so good!</p><h3>How to get to Mui Ne and how to bring it about while you're there</h3><p>The international airport in Ho Chi Minh City is around 4 hours drive, and there are numerous cost-effective transportation options to get to the kite spot. The train or a bus is going to be the cheapest option but you’ll still need to change to a bus or taxi once you reach Phan Tiet. Taxis in Vietnam are relatively cheap and if you’re booking through your accommodation you can generally get a good price. Renting a car or a bike is an option but the roads can be crazy so be careful if you are planning to drive.</p>
