Somewhere more remote (also from tourism) is the Kite Spot dongwe. Hot water, boardshorts and laid back lifestyle are the order of the day here. Occasional parties take place in the surrounding lodges in the evening, where you meet like-minded people.

The Kite Spot Matemwe is located on the wind-safe island of Zanzibar, which offers plenty of space and crystal clear water for kitesurfing. Laid back and laizy is the motto of life here. Zanzibar has many kite spots on the east coast, which is also great for downwinders.

<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Jambiani</h3><p>The wind blows side shore here in both seasons, just from opposite directions. The Kuzi wind blows from mid May until September and can get up to 25 knots, while the Kaskazi blows from December until March and maxes out around 20 knots. Both seasons offer really ideal conditions, just keep an eye on the tide when you are booking as it makes a difference here. At high tide the beach and therefore the kite launching area is a little smaller, and the water in the lagoon can be a little choppier, with the bigger waves out on the reef. At low tide the lagoon is a lot flatter and shallower, which is the perfect time for anyone learning to kitesurf.</p><h3>Around the kite spot Jambiani</h3><p>If you are keen for a day off from kitesurfing to rest your aching muscles, Jambiani offers some incredible diving and snorkelling options, with schools/centres in Jambiani itself or in Paje only a few km away. Paje is a bit busier and offers more of a party scene if you fancy drinking and dancing into the small hours of the night. Fresh fish is very good here for dinner and there are plenty of options nearby.</p><p>For some culture Stone Town is the capital of Zanzibar and a UNESCO world heritage site, so well worth a visit on a rest day. Another option is to do a spice tour, and learn why Zanzibar is nicknamed ‘Spice Island’, or just relax in a hammock and soak in the local vibe.&nbsp;</p><h3>How to get to Jambiani and how to move there</h3><p>Fly into Zanzibar airport (ZNZ) and get a taxi from there to Jambiani or rent a car and drive yourself 38km to the spot. In Jambiani itself you can rent a car, scooter or bicycle, or taxis are also cheap. Everything is reasonably close together, so you can easily get around.</p>

<p>Jambiani offers basically the same conditions as nearby Paje but without the crowds, making it an ideal kitesurf holiday destination. With two wind seasons meaning wind for kitesurfing 8 months of the year, and a mix of a large flat water lagoon and waves on the reef, it’s no surprise Jambiani is growing in popularity among kitesurfers. If you want crystal blue water, warm enough to kitesurf in board shorts and t shirt, flat water at low tide and waves at high tide, then this is the place for you! Add to that a pretty decent food and drink scene locally and you’ve got a perfect recipe for your next kiteboarding trip.</p>

<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Paje Beach</h3><p>From June to October and from December to March are the two seasons for kitesurfing, and the wind in both seasons blows cross onshore so it's very beginner friendly. The Kusi blows from the south-east from June to October and maxes out around 25 knots, whereas the Kaskasi blows from the north-east from December and is generally a bit more chilled topping out at 20 knots or so. Most of the time the wind builds through the day so the strongest conditions are in the afternoon. The water temperature is constantly above 24 degrees celsius, so you can leave your winter gear at home unless you get cold easily, which can happen during Africa's winter months (June-September). You'd need only a 2mm shorty at most.</p><h3>Around the kite spot Paje Beach</h3><p>Paje is a great place to hang out with other kitesurfers, with a load of nice local cafes and restaurants all around the beach and town. If you fancy a day off from kitesurfing there is incredible diving to be done in Paje, with SUP (Stand Up Paddle) trips, surfing and enjoying the views also excellent options. Jozani forest is not far away, and Stone Town is a UNESCO world heritage site so there's also nature and culture to be explored within easy reach.</p><h3>How to get to Paje Beach and how to bring it about while you're there</h3><p>The simplest way to get to Paje is to fly to Zanzibar Airport (ZNZ) and then get a taxi to Paje. The taxi price will depend on your bargaining skills, so either book in advance online, through your accommodation, or be prepared to haggle on arrival at the airport. You can also get a local bus if you prefer to save some money, it'll just take a bit longer and be more of an adventure!</p><p>In Paje itself you can just walk everywhere or borrow a bicycle, life is slow here and nobody is in a rush, so lean into it and enjoy it.</p>

<p>Paje is located on the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania , an island known for it's beautiful white sand and crystal blue water. Paje, on the island's east coast is gradually becoming a mecca for kitesurfing due to the huge amount of space, beautiful scenery and reliable breeze. Many non kitesurfing tourists prefer Zanzibar's more developed Northern beaches, but Paje offers an oasis of tranquility which draws more and more kitesurfers back each year. The kiteboard spot in Paje has 2 different trade winds which blow at different times of year, and you will generally find yourself riding between 9 and 12 square meter kites depending on the season. Most people visit Paje for the flat water, but for more seasoned kitesurfers and wave riders, there is a reef further out where the waves can break up to about 2 meters high.</p><p>In recent years, the quality of kite schools and accommodation have improved significantly and now you are spoilt for choice. In nearby restaurants, fresh seafood is the norm and although it can be a bit pricey in places, the locals sure know how to cook it to perfection. Because orders take a bit longer, be patient and go with the flow, don't expect fast food and you won't be disappointed. Time seems to slow down in Paje, so going barefoot and relaxing is the norm. For nature lovers and kiteboarding enthusiasts, it's a must visit location.</p>
