<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Le Morne</h3><p>The wind in Mauritius can blow at any time of year, but the trade winds blow between June and November giving you the best chance of kitesurfing every day. This is also when the swells build up in the Indian ocean so it’s the best time for the reefs to start firing! This is winter in Mauritius and the air temperature will be somewhere between 21-25?. During the Mauritian summer it can get up to 30+? but the wind is not as consistent at that time of year.&nbsp;</p><p>If you are kitesurfing in the lagoon or learning to kitesurf the water will be nice and flat, maybe a little choppy in the middle. If you choose to head out to the reefs you’ll find various wave spots, some which are very beginner friendly with deeper reef and gently rolling waves, but others which are really only for advanced kitesurfers only. Just don’t end up at One Eye if you aren’t ready for it, this wave breaks fast over a shallow reef and the current is strong, so on big days it’s best avoided unless you know what you are doing! The local kite schools and guides can show you around the spots and help you out with what might suit your riding level.</p><h3>Around the kite spot Le Morne</h3><p>As mentioned above, Le Morne is a honeymoon destination and not exactly a lively party scene, but there are plenty of daytime activities including fishing, golf, beach volley, cycling, snorkeling, stand up paddling, sailing, diving, horse riding, and kayaking, so you shouldn’t get bored!</p><p>Failing that, why not hike up Le Morne Brabant, the mountain overlooking the spot, where you’ll also discover a UNESCO world heritage site commemorating a historic sanctuary for runaway slaves. There’s an incredible history to be found here as well as all the phenomenal kitesurfing.</p><h3>How to get to Le Morne and how to move there</h3><p>Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) is the airport you’ll want to fly to, and from there the transfer to Le Morne is around an hour. The best bet is to organise a taxi via your accommodation. You won’t need a car if you are staying at a hotel in Le Morne as you can generally kitesurf directly in front, and if you are learning to kitesurf then your school will be able to organise a shuttle for you to the lagoon if necessary.</p>

<p>Le Morne on the Southwestern tip of Mauritius offers a fantastic flat water lagoon and waves ranging from beginner friendly to pro kitesurfers only. With so much kitesurfing variety and steady wind making it perfect for all levels of kitesurfer, plus a stunning location and luxurious hotels it’s no wonder kitesurfers flock here year round. Le Morne and Mauritius as a whole is a well known honeymoon destination so the prices can be higher here than some other kite spots, but the quality of service and the amazing kitesurfing conditions make it more than worthwhile.</p>

<h3>Kitesurfing wind conditions in Calodyne</h3><p>Kitesurfing is possible year round in Mauritius, but if you really want to make sure you give yourself the best chance for wind, then June to September is the most reliable time for over 20 knots. Other than that it’s a 50/50 gamble at other times of year (which is still pretty good compared to some other kite spots!). The water on the inside of the reef is pretty flat to a little choppy depending on where exactly you kitesurf, and you’ll have some waves breaking over the reef. Just watch out for the occasional rocky shallow patch, but since the water is crystal clear they are easy enough to avoid. Beginners can learn here, and the local schools generally teach from a boat as the water is too deep to stand in a lot of the lagoon area.</p><p>The wind generally picks up around 10am and blows until sunset, but can be difficult to predict on Mauritius, so checking with the local kite schools is a good idea if you are unsure. It’s the kind of place you just have to wake up and look out the window to see if it’s good, but generally if the sky is clear then the wind is going to pick up! Temperature wise you’ll most likely want a long wetsuit here as it can be a little chilly from May to October, but outside of those months a shorty should be ok.&nbsp;</p><h3>Around the kite spot Calodyne</h3><p>Mauritius has a lot to offer couples and groups but isn’t a great place to be a solo traveller, however there are a bunch of activities to keep you occupied if you’re getting sick of kitesurfing or the wind doesn’t show. You can go out on a SUP, go dolphin watching, do yoga, go fishing, or just read a book and unwind. If you want to see some of the local scene you can explore the nearby fishing villages, and see them using their traditional methods. Every Friday, the fishermen arrange a Fish Fry event where they fry different ocean fishes and lobsters and showcase their culinary skills, which is worth checking out</p><h3>How to get to Calodyne and how to move there</h3><p>Catch a flight to Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport (MRU) in Mauritius which is the main airport on the island. It’s about 1 hour 15 minutes to Anse La Raie, and you can either take a taxi or rent a car for ease. There isn’t much in the way of reliable public transport on Mauritius so having your own transport is definitely helpful, but if you are booking a trip through one of the local kite schools they can also arrange everything for you so you don’t need to worry about driving yourself.</p>

<p>Anse La Raie is getting more popular as Mauritius gets explored further and people venture away from the well known spots in Le Morne. Offering a huge lagoon thanks to the barrier reef 2.5km offshore, this is a great spot for anyone not comfortable kitesurfing in the waves, or who wants flat water to practice their latest and greatest freestyle tricks. There are a couple of wave spots breaking over the reef here, which are nice to ride but the reef is shallow so better left to those with more kitesurfing experience!</p><p>Mauritius has been a popular kitesurfing and honeymoon destination for years now, so there are various options for all your kitesurfing needs, just be prepared that the prices can be a little on the higher side when compared to some other island destinations. It’s also less of a solo traveller destination, and tends to attract more families, groups and honeymooners, so bear that in mind.</p>

It takes around 40 minutes to drive from the airport. The nearest town is St. Martin. Here you can avail the island's quite dependable chartered taxi service. Bus service is limited. Bus routes do not connect the tourist spots. So, we recommend you rent a car for your indie short trips. </p>
